Gratitude

Gratitude

There is a strain of psychology that emphasizes the positive in our relationships or lifestyles vs the broken and messed up side.  One of the most recommended ideas that has been gleaned from positive psychology is the benefit of regularly even daily taking time to notice and be grateful for what’s good in your life.  I would add that even difficult things—loss, disappointment, struggles with work or relationships or health, can also be used for good and growth in our lives.  For those who struggle with anxiety and/or insomnia, making a list of 3 unique things you are thankful for each day—-no repeats of the same old things— can be an excellent habit to add before going to sleep. Get yourself a prayer journal/notebook or add a list to your fav device.  It’s so easy and habit forming to focus on what we don’t have or don’t like. How helpful are those thoughts to changing your mood or gratefulness in general?  Give it a try—focus your mind at least for a few minutes daily on what you are or could be thankful to God for.

I Thess. 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
